Every student can learn, just not on the same day, or the same way.
-- George Evans
Vision
Children at the Carlton M. Viveiros School will be prepared for success in middle school. All students will exit fifth grade, regardless of their academic level when they enter the school, having met or exceeded the state standards in English Language Arts, Math, Science/Technology, History, and the Arts. We are committed to a child-centered community of diverse learners, providing a safe and nurturing environment. All students will receive high quality standards based instruction in all subject areas. Our data driven learning community continually collects, analyzes and acts on student performance to improve teaching and learning. The children, faculty, families, and community are unified to encourage risk taking, collaboration, persistence, flexibility, respect, and trust. Children are nurtured as individuals with social-emotional, physical, and academic needs. The Viveiros School is a community in which we work cooperatively, to encourage individual growth and success in a changing world. Children are given the responsibility for learning independently, solving problems, and making decisions. The students are acknowledged for their unique talents, skills, and ideas; therefore, creating a lifelong joy of learning.
Attendance
The school day begins at 7:30am. If children arrive after 7:35am they MUST enter through the Slade Street door and report to the main office for a late slip. The Dwelly Street door will be closed at 7:35am. It is critical to their success that children are in school everyday and on time. Absences and tardiness will be closely monitored. Letters will be sent home regularly to parents of children with excessive absences or tardiness. Additionally, excessive absences or tardiness will result in attendance officer visits and court appearances.
